So today we will talking about the different types of braces and their pros and cons.
Types of Braces
Metal braces/Traditional braces
This is the one which has been used since ages and is generally not preferred by everyone. They are made out of metal brackets and wires. However these days they are slightly smaller and are not that much revealing. Apart from that they are also fitted heat activated archwires. This uses the body temperature which helps in moving the teeth to its natural position. The procedure is less painful and very quick.
Pros: Pocket friendly
Cons: Too much visible even the new ones.
Ceramic Braces
They are of the same size and shape as their metal counterpart except for the fact that the brackets which these use are tooth colored (also called clear brackets). These brackets they blend in to the teeth. Many dentists will be using wires which will match the color of the teeth so these go unnoticeable.
Pros: Less noticeable and helps in fast movement of the teeth
Cons: Expensive than the metal braces.
Lingual Braces
They are similar to the traditional ones except for the fact that these are positioned on the inner side of the teeth.
Pros: Cannot be seen from outside
Cons: Difficult to clean and expensive.
Invisalign
They are clear aligners which consists of 18-30 custom made mouth guard. They are removable and have to be replaced every two weeks.
Pros: Nearly invisible and won’t hamper your speech or eating ability.
Cons: If you are suffering from serious dental problem these are not the ideal solution. Moreover they are expensive and are not suitable for kids.
