Everything you need to know about Swollen Gums
We need to take care of our teeth. We need to know brush them regularly. We need to do floss. We all know this but do you know that as much as your teeth are important, your gums are equally important. Gums they turn red and they swell as well. They may even recede or move back a little if you do not show them some love and take care of them. So let me put it across this way – An infected gum is an indication of some serious Gum Disease.
A swollen gum not necessarily means that it will have a bulging or swollen appearance but it also means that they may bleed. At times it may happen that the gums are swollen so much that they will block the adjacent teeth. In case you see swollen gums then be ready to suffer from gum disease which will start as Gingivitis but if left untreated or ignored may even lead to Periodontists. If you see Red Swollen Gums then be assured that it is not just a sign of Gingivitis.
When you suffer from Swollen Gums following are the symptoms that you may experience:
- Bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth.
- Bad Breath
- Tooth Sensitivity.
There is no condition in human body that cannot be treated. If you have high temperature you can take some medicine and some precaution such as eating proper and light diet. Similarly if you have Swollen Gums you can follow these steps:
- Good Hygiene: I have always laid emphasis on this and the reason is that there is no escaping from brushing and flossing. Everyone knows hows to brush and floss but there is no harm in improvising.
- Proper Diet: A proper diet works wonders for your body. You feel fresh and healthy. Eating a well balanced diet which is rich with Vitamin C and Calcium works wonders for your teeth. It makes the enamel strong and also reduces the chances of swollen gums.
- Avoid acidic drinks and mouthwash: If you are suffering from Swollen Gums you definitely need to avoid acidic drinks as they aggravate the swelling. You may want to flouride based mouthwash. Do not eat very hot food instead opt of mildly warm food and if you love for ice creams then this is the best time to have it.
Just remember that any situation you face with regards to tooth has to be dealt with caution and must be done by a professional so do not forget to see a dentist. Rest just stay happy and keep smiling 🙂
